Introduction to the
2025 HSEC report

Shift to employee ownership amid uncertainty

2025 marked a significant transition for Gunvor, with the management buy-out resulting to Gunvor becoming an employee-owned commodities trading company. This was combined with a challenging geopolitical environment. As a result, we have invested in our capabilities, we are continuing to diversify our portfolio and, we are strengthening our governance structures.

The changes we are making are cultural as much as they are structural. Employee ownership means a stronger sense of responsibility and accountability. It also fosters long-term thinking across the organisation, developing a much stronger link between operations and strategic decision-making, with a focus on how each individual can have an impact on the future success of the business. And it places greater emphasis on both transparency and performance, as we continue to build trust with our stakeholders in our new ownership model and the results it can deliver.

Over the years, this report has been introduced by different voices,

What do the numbers say

Gunvor’s commitment to measurable environmental progress is reflected in its ongoing reduction of greenhouse gas emissions across all business segments. In 2025, the Company achieved a 57% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions compared to its 2019 baseline. This reduction was achieved following the decommissioning of our Rotterdam refinery and a reduction in the activity of our powerplant.

Shipping plays a central role in Gunvor’s business model, and optimizing the environmental footprint of this activity is a strategic priority. In 2025, Gunvor re-baselined its targets accordingly (2023 baseline). In 2024, the carbon intensity of the TC fleet improved by 18% compared to the 2023 baseline. Gunvor is working on improving the measure of its VC fleet further.
